A Lunch Outing...

We'd usually meet on average about once a month with EH, AW, Minggy, YH and sometimes SL, DS, and T joins us. These are all friends I knew through hubby, and we're a pretty close bunch. Although hubby is away, we had our usual gathering the Sunday before last, this time for dimsum at Jaya One.

I told the girls the night before that we would be meeting the aunties and uncles the next day and they were pretty excited as they have not met them for a while. The
last time we met was for my birthday celebration, for which the girls were not present, hence the excitement.

On our way there, I asked the girls who they would like to sit with. JY quickly answered Uncle Minggy while JL was undecided. As I went there alone with the girls, I called YH to help bring the girls from the car as I felt it wasn't that safe for me to do it myself in the basement parking.

YH came and the girls were pretty happy. When we got to to the restaurant, I told Minggy that JY asked to sit with him. I was anticipating having the girls sit next to me with JY between me and Minggy but as everyone was already seated, they moved a space for JY between Minggy and AW. I asked JY if she would be fine with Mommy and JL not beside her but sitting opposite her at the large round table, and JY said okay but I was a bit worried.

I made their cereal and handed them their bowls. JY was quiet at first and didn't touch her food which got me worried. Minggy was also worried as he certainly didn't want JY to start crying under his care. JY told Minggy that she would eat when JL ate. JL began to eat but JY was still stirring and playing around with the cereal. I walked over to check on her and she began eating, much to Minggy and my relief.

I gave them some pau after they were done with their cereal which made them really happy. After they ate, I left them alone to catch up with the others. I noticed later that JY was rather quiet and it was then that I realised she was actually enjoying herself watching the telly at the front of the restaurant :)

We finished our meal and the guys accompanied me and the girls to the car. They were very tired and took quite a long afternoon nap, which I felt was also partly due to the cool rainy day.

I knew for sure they were very happy with the meal as they started excitedly telling their grandparents about their day when the grandparents arrived home. I guess a simple lunch outing to us is to them an exciting event as they got to go to a new place.

I wish we could also see things like them in learning to appreciate the simple little things in life.

Being Clingy...

A few months back, I used to get to work early while hubby and the girls are still in dreamland. The girls will usually get up when hubby goes off to work around 8am. Soon after hubby left, the pattern has changed and the girls began to wake up earlier at the same time as I did.

There are also days when they don't let me to go work. Once as I was about to take a shower, Jun Lee asked if I was going to work and I answered yes. She refused to let go of my hand and told me not to go work. I told her I had to go take a shower. She then said "Mommy, you go shower then go sleep". I told her, no, I needed to go shower and go to work. She then began to cry. Its getting more and more difficult for me to get to work.

I guess with their father away, they want their mommy around more. I can see that they are very happy during weekends. Doesn't matter if we are just sitting at home the whole day or have outings. Just having me around with them the whole time makes their day I suppose. Well, dont worry, gals... Mommy will have a lot more time with you when Mommy stops work. Then you will wonder why I don't go off to work, hahaha... I will definitely miss them very much when I plan to start work again next year, and hope I can get a job that enables me to spend more time with them than my current one. :)

Jigsaw Puzzles...

Its been a while since we posted as hubby's not around and wifey is extremely busy at work and dealing with the family and the house.

Hubby had bought a jigsaw puzzle for the girls earlier and they seem to like it. Grandma bought more new jigsaw puzzles for the gals lately as she thought of giving them new toys.

We were at first worried that it was too difficult for them and they would not be able to do it as these were the standard small-piece puzzles, though it was a rather small puzzle. True enough at first they found it difficult but after a while they could do it easily. It was just amazing the pace at which children learn, and they very quickly were able to complete another bigger puzzle.

A Cheeky Act...

They girls did a very cheeky thing today that deserved a scolding, yet being very funny at the same time.

Grandfather (Yeye) returned with a packet of buns in the evening, as everyone hungering for a bit of tea. As it was near dinner time, they decided to just share one bun among Yeye, Grandma, Jun Lee and Jun Yen.

Grandma then went into the kitchen while Yeye went upstairs, leaving the girls in the living room eating their share of the bun. Grandma came into the living room and saw JL still munching while later Yeye also saw JY still munching and were puzzled as to why the girls took so long to get through their bun, thinking that probably they did not like the bun as it was not spread with kaya and butter as usual. Or worse, that the girls were eating some stuff they picked up from the floor.

A while later Yeye heard the girls talking on their toy phone apologising to their Mommy and one asking not to be scolded while the other was asking not to be smacked.

That was weird, so they looked around and realised then that out of the original 4 buns in the packet, there were only 2 left, when there should be 3. That meant the girls shared one of the buns among themselves without the grandparents knowledge. Then they were scared that they would be scolded and smacked for their mischievous act and tried to make amends.

Grandma told the gals not to do it again, and to ask permission in the future. Not only were we worried about them eating extra food, but more so that they would eat stuff they were not supposed to.
